Popular Electric Train Show back for second year

Over 3,000 enthusiasts are expected to visit the Great Electric Train Show which takes place at the Heritage Motor Centre in conjunction with Hornby Magazine on Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 October. Now in its second year, this superb model railway event will feature 27 top quality layouts across all scales including Southampton Model Railway Society's 'O' gauge Casterbridge (HM67), Warton Road in Gauge 3 from John Witts (HM79), Horfield in 'OO' gauge (HM80), John Polley's Abbey Road representing London Underground operations (HM39) and Thornbury Hill in 4mm scale (HM63).

Hornby Magazine will also be flying the flag for the Southern Region with the debut of its brand new exhibition layout ‘Twelve Trees Junction’. At 34ft long this is the largest layout ever operated by the magazine and its construction features in Hornby Magazine Yearbook No. 6.

Other star attractions include Peter Midwinter's Glen Gillie and Loch Inch set in Scotland in the 1960s; Titheridge Junction from the Bradford Model Railway Club representing the Great Western Main Line in the 1970s in ‘N’ gauge; Thornbury Hill, a busy South London layout set in the 1960s; Halifax Model Railway Club’s new modern era set Acton Parkway; and Hinton Parva, the High Wycombe and District Model Railway Societies busy main line exhibition layout in ‘OO’.

Hornby Magazine Editor Mike Wild said, "The first Great Electric Train Show was a tremendous success. We are all fired up and ready to put together what we plan to be an even better show with more for visitors to enjoy this year including a dedicated Skills Zone with experts on hand to offer modelling advice and insight."

The show also includes more than 30 trade stands including Bachmann, Cheltenham Models, Grimy Times, DC Video & Kits, Skytrex, Golden Age Models and many more.

Tickets also include entry to the Museum which has over 180 vehicles on display showcasing British innovations in both road and race cars. In addition, the Centre has first class catering facilities, toilets including disabled facilities and a gift shop. Free courtesy buses will operate on the Saturday connecting the exhibition with the main line network at Leamington Spa station.
