Rushden Lakes development encourages new homes reservations

A Northamptonshire housebuilder has seen a rise in off-plan reservations by people keen to lay down their roots within reach of a planned £50m retail and leisure development.

The approval for Rushden Lakes by communities secretary Eric Pickles in June has led to increased interest in properties at the nearby Rushymead development, says Persimmon Homes.

Suzanne Irons, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes (Midlands), said: “When we launched Rushymead we expected it to be popular because the homes were carefully designed and priced to suit the local market.

“Rushden is already a good choice of home town for families and commuters, thanks to the existing choice of schools, leisure facilities and excellent transport links.

“But the news of this huge project, which will transform a brownfield site into a vibrant shopping and entertainment destination, has resulted in higher levels of interest from buyers who are keen to snap up one of our properties so they will be settled in when Rushden Lakes is created.

“In fact, of 88 homes on sale at Rushymead, eight have already been reserved, and the showhome isn’t even due to open until October.”

Rushymead comprises a range of two, three and four bedroom homes on the edge of town, with buyers able to reserve their plot off-plan and benefit from the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, meaning they only need a five per cent deposit.

Suzanne added: “House hunters with an existing property to sell are also making use of our Home Change or Part Exchange schemes, saving time and fees as we help to market their old house or even buy it off them ourselves."
