More than £2.5 million will be invested in Earls Barton, Northants, as part of Redrow’s Barley Fields development in the village.

It includes a substantial sum for affordable housing and contributions to education, leisure, libraries and public transport.

The award-winning housebuilder has planning consent to build 65 homes at Barley Fields, off Compton Way, and will be offering a choice of two, three and four-bedroom designs from the sought-after Heritage Collection. Construction is underway and the first properties are scheduled to be released for sale in the autumn.

Along with building new homes Redrow has pledged to invest in the local infrastructure, which will benefit everyone in the village.

John Mann, managing director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), explains: “Ensuring our developments are sustainable is important to us and we will be making significant contributions to the local community. We will be investing £2 million in providing affordable homes for local need, which will see 20 homes transferred to Wellingborough Homes. But it doesn’t stop there – we’ll be investing almost £580,000 into the local area; for example schools will receive almost £260,000, pitch sports approximately £100,000 and the library around £15,000.”

Public transport locally will benefit from a windfall of £165,000, including a contribution towards bus shelters; more than £20,000 will be spent on car parking within the borough; while the fire and rescue service stands to gain almost £6,000. Redrow will also make a payment towards public art.

John adds: “Our new homes at Barley Fields will bring investment that will benefit those who already live in the neighbourhood as well as the people who buy our new homes. The development will also have a positive impact on the local economy with industry statistics showing that 1.5 full time jobs are created for every home built - and that’s not including jobs in the supply chain.”

People who buy new homes at Barley Fields will be able to embrace village living. There are several small shops to cater for residents’ daily needs, while the amenities of Wellingborough and Northampton are both easily accessible.

The new homes are ideally placed for buyer with children as they’re within walking distance of the local infants and junior schools.
