Chester is gearing up for festive romance this December as the city's Christmas Market is tipped to be the best location to organise a date during the festive season. Partners in the city have created the perfect place spot for lovers, from wine-tasting and chocolate-making to taking romantic selfies with an army of mini Santa's; there are so many activities that will help to set the perfect date, or even a festive proposal.

Star-crossed lovers can warm their hearts by tasting festive tipples at the market from damson gin and flavoured vodkas, to specialist beers from the Llangollen Brewery, to traditional hot ciders and mulled wines. Sweethearts can even make each other the perfect gift, from personalised signs to tree decorations with the help of craft businesses such as 'Agilis' who produce bespoke design laser-cut wooden and perspex Christmas decorations.

During a visit couples can tick so many gifts off their list, with over 70 different stalls selling accessories, clothing, hand-made gifts and delicious local produce. Admirers can even end the date in a traditional way with chocolates and flowers, with several stalls such as The Dutch Flower Man and Scarlett Lilly and sweet treats from Choco Passion, Hanley's Confectionery and of course, festive-flavoured Cheshire ice cream from The Ice Cream Farm.

Chester is the perfect city for a romantic date with its historical architecture and enchanting festive setting, as well as a long list of fantastic food and drink outlets to continue dancing or drinking late into the night.

But the Christmas Market isn't the only place to find love in Chester this Christmas as we list the city's Top 5 Romantic Spots:
