The highly anticipated final phase of apartments has been released at St George’s Park retirement village in Ditchling, East Sussex. The 32 one and two bedroom homes offer some of the most prestigious apartments available to date. The properties are situated within a stunning period style building, known as Purchace Manor, which has been designed to mirror the architecture of the original Victorian building.

The final phase also includes a brand new leisure centre and health club, known as Rafael Court which is due to open this November. Featuring a selection of one bedroom apartments, the state of the art facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, games rooms, therapy rooms, café and hairdressing salon, which will further increase the extensive range of social and recreational facilities already available.

Situated on the original footprint of the former building that was built in 1868, Purchace Manor has been designed to mirror the original architectural design, with distinctive arched windows, a turreted roof, decorative balconies, contrasting brickwork and tall chimneys and is set to become the focal point of the village. Designed around a central courtyard, the three storey apartment building occupies a prime location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and offers a range of generously proportioned two bedroom apartments.

Designed for the over-60s, St George’s Park offers a warm and friendly community where people can enjoy an active retirement. Demand for the homes is expected to be high, at a time when the number of downsizers is on the rise nationally. Downsizers made up 18 per cent of those who moved house in the UK during 2014 — a 7 per cent rise on the previous year, according to Hamptons International.

Philip Smith, Sales and Marketing Director at St George’s Park comments: “We are delighted to release the final phase of apartments at St George’s Park and are proud to have designed Purchace Manor to recreate the original Victorian building. St George’s Park has been a great success story and people buying homes in the final phase will benefit from the strong community that is already established here. Being able to enjoy an active lifestyle is one of the biggest attractions for people who live here; so all residents will enjoy the addition of the excellent facilities that the new leisure centre will bring. For those looking for an easy to manage home in their retirement, which is safe and secure, with a vast range of activities and social life on the doorstep, St George’s Park ticks all the boxes.”

In total St George’s Park will offer 240 stylish apartments, set in 250 acres of beautiful parkland and landscaped grounds. Developed by the St Augustine Order whose convent remains on the site today, the scheme also includes three 60-bed care homes for those who need more support. These are located on a separate site within the grounds. The buildings are grouped around a series of garden courts and terraces with views across open farmland.

Residents began moving into St George’s Park nine years ago, giving the community a chance to flourish. There is a vibrant social life on offer and the Resident’s Association organises a packed timetable of activities. From indoor pursuits such as line dancing, bridge, scrabble, snooker and book clubs, to outdoor activities such as fishing, croquet or bowls, there is always something to do. An active, healthy lifestyle is encouraged, so residents have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fresh air and can even have their own allotment.

The original Concert Hall provides the hub of communal life for gatherings, concerts, plays and film nights. There is also a library, restaurant / café, convenience shop, concierge and a mini bus service and pool car allowing residents to get out and about.

Apartments throughout the village are generously proportioned, well planned and filled with natural light. They are finished to a high specification, including stylish fitted kitchens incorporating a full range of integrated appliances. All homes are fully accessible for wheelchair users and residents with mobility impairments, while offering attractive, contemporary interiors. For peace of mind St George’s Park has ensured that all apartments come with monitored security, video entry and fire alarm systems. Homes are built to high standards of insulation and energy efficiency, ensuring low utility bills for residents.

St George’s Park is within 3 miles of Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill both of which offer good local shopping including major supermarkets and excellent rail links to Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.

The forthcoming properties at St Georges Park are expected to start at £365,000 for a two bedroom apartment in Purchase Manor and from £310,000 for a one-bedroom apartment in Rafael Court. For further information, visit stgeorgespark.co.uk.
