Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is investing more than £2.1 million in local community facilities as part of its Hele Park development in Newton Abbot, Devon.

The money is being provided to local authorities to improve existing public services and infrastructure as construction takes place for the development of high-quality two, three, four and six-bedroom houses, off Ashburton Road.

The money pledged by Taylor Wimpey in association with Hele Park includes more than £780,000 towards local primary education, £500,000 to pay for bus service improvements and nearly £450,000 for indoor and outdoor sports, leisure and recreation facilities.

Additionally, contributions totalling more than £190,000 will be provided to protect and enhance local wildlife habitats for rare species such as dormouse and cirl bunting, while £40,000 is going towards healthcare facilities in the area.

There will also be five brand new children’s play areas created as the new development takes shape, and Taylor Wimpey will be providing in excess of £60,000 towards cycle, pedestrian and crossing improvements in the vicinity of the site.

Furthermore, 26% of the new homes – a total of 93 properties – at Hele Park will be affordable housing, giving local residents and key workers the opportunity to enjoy life in a brand new property within their own community.

Clare Brimble, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a developer committed to working with local stakeholders we take our community engagement very seriously indeed.

“We have worked extensively with local authorities to ensure our financial contribution is spent in the best possible way to benefit both future residents of Hele Park and the wider community in Newton Abbot.

“Every single new home we build at Taylor Wimpey is part of a community and we are committed to ensuring our exciting Hele Park development offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.”

Ash Vale at Hele Park is the first phase of Taylor Wimpey homes to be released for sale at this sought-after new community, with a choice of three and four-bedroom properties currently available to reserve from as little as £214,995.

Hele Park is located on the western fringes of the attractive market town of Newton Abbot, which boasts a wealth of handsome Victorian buildings.

There’s a good choice of high street and independent shops, plus pubs, restaurants and tea shops in the town centre, while leisure facilities include a cinema, a racecourse and a railway museum plus a sports centre with a swimming pool and a fitness suite.
