Iveco delivers Stralis tractors to Frontier Agriculture Northampton-based Iveco distributor Stormont Truck & Van has supplied Frontier Agriculture with two Stralis Active Space tractor units, being used for bulk haulage within the UK agricultural industry.

The two Stralis AS440S43TX/P’s join a mixed fleet of 75 commercial vehicles and represent the first Iveco’s operated by the company. They will work in conjunction with Weightlifter tipping trailers and each benefit from a high specification which includes Eminox vertical exhausts, alloy wheels, tipping gear, additional mirrors for enhanced safety and an anti-syphon device to guard against fuel theft.

Operating across the UK five and a half days a week, the Stralis’ are expected to cover over 100,000 km a year and will remain on the fleet for four years.

“We looked at all of the options before ordering our first two Stralis’, with the whole life costs proving particularly attractive,” explains Tim Smart, Transport Manager at Frontier Agriculture.

“Since the vehicles joined the fleet the feedback has been very positive. The drivers have reported being particularly pleased with the Active Space cabs and the amount of power and torque available from the Cursor 10 engines,” he adds.

The Stralis offers a totally flat cab floor sitting just 1,700 mm above the road, making access easy. Inside, the cab configuration features an air-sprung driver’s seat which adjusts for reach, height and rake, full lower bunk and a passenger seat.

Both vehicles are powered by the proven Cursor 10 engine, with its 10.3 litre capacity capable of producing up to 430 hp between 1,590 and 2,100 rev/min and 1,900 Nm of torque between 1,050 and 1,590 rev/min.

The engine is driven through Iveco’s EuroTronic transmission, which offers either fully, or semi-automated shifts. As the first premium tractor units to feature an automated gearbox as standard, the EuroTronic not only improves cross cab access but also ensures optimal vehicle performance and safety.

Frontier Agriculture is a leading UK Arable business formed through the merger of Banks Cargill Agriculture & Allied Grain and is jointly owned by Cargill plc and ABF Holdings Ltd. The company purchases approximately four million tonnes of grain from UK farmers each year and operates a fleet of 65 bulk grain HGVs from six main commercial centres. It offers unrivalled access to profitable end markets and to high quality crop inputs and agronomic services.
