New air suspension delivers payload increase for Eurocargo

18th May 2007 Print
Iveco has introduced a revised Hendrickson rear air suspension option across its 12 to 14 tonne Eurocargo range, enabling operators to benefit from an additional payload capacity of 135 kg.

The weight saving is available for any customer specifying either full or rear air suspension, and has been achieved by replacing the previous four bag system with a state-of-the-art two bag air suspension.

Available with immediate affect, the development is expected to prove popular with customers currently specifying this option in order to benefit from increased load protection, improved ride comfort and a lower chassis height.

“The introduction of this latest suspension clearly demonstrates Iveco’s commitment to ensuring customers benefit from vehicles offering the maximum productivity for their fleets. To put this weight saving into real perspective, it’s the equivalent of being able to transport three additional standard sized fridge freezers per load,” explains Robin Barker, Product Manager at Iveco.

An added advantage of air-suspension is that it allows operators to raise and lower the height of the vehicle, which is especially useful when unloading by hand or aligning the vehicle with a loading bay. The rear suspension can be raised by as much as 100mm, or lowered by 70mm, whilst models with full air suspension can also raise and lower the chassis over the front axle by 60mm in each direction.

One of the most popular applications for Eurocargos with air suspension is operators fitting demountable bodies, where the ability to adjust the suspension height is critical to engaging and detaching various bodies.

The new option is available on all 12 and 14 tonne rigids, and on 13 tonne crew cab models. The complete Eurocargo range can be mission-matched to all types of applications, with over 3,000 possible configurations available from the 300 basic models.
