Bigger brakes bring benefits to Eurocargo

Bigger brakes bring benefits to Eurocargo Iveco has introduced new brake discs across its Eurocargo product range up to 10 tonnes, enabling operators to benefit from a wealth of improvements including enhanced braking efficiency and reduced stopping distances.

The new brake discs are larger (330 x 32mm) and replace two different sizes currently fitted to 65E-75E and 80E-100E models respectively, leading to greater parts uniformity, with friction areas increased by 35 per cent and pad thickness up to 31 per cent greater.

Additional benefits include longer brake pad and disc life, reduced repair and maintenance times and enhanced product quality.

“The build-up of heat is one of the major factors which destroys brake pads and discs, and these new larger brakes will result in significantly lower brake operating temperatures – up to 60 ºC cooler on 65E-75E models and 40 ºC cooler on 80E and 100E models,” explains Robin Barker, Product Manager at Iveco.

“It also highlights Iveco’s ongoing commitment to maximising safety for both the drivers of Iveco vehicles and other road users,” he adds.

Iveco’s complete Eurocargo product range spans the 7 to 18 tonne market sector, comprising over 3,000 possible configurations from the 300 basic models and can be mission-matched to all types of applications. Sales of models up to and including 10 tonnes account for more than 70 per cent of all Eurocargo orders, with the new brakes being fitted to Eurocargos with a build date from October onwards.
