Here is a selection of the best hotels with views for short breaks this summer.

The junior suite (room 315) has the best viewpoint with a large balcony offering panoramic views over both of the towns bays, which are so long and majestic that they are often known as Bimare (two seas). One of the bays, the Bay of Fables, is named after Hans Christian Anderson, who was stunned by the views and labelled them 'fabled'. The views also inspired Dante and Byron. The junior suite costs £255 in low season and £340 in high season. hotelvisavis.com
