Iveco targets 50 per cent share of planned maintenance contracts

12th August 2008 Print
Iveco has launched a new range of planned maintenance contracts called ‘Elements’ to support its full line-up of commercial vehicles, which spans the 3.5 to 44 tonne sector.

The introduction of Elements follows a year-long review of the market and is designed to support Iveco’s goal of achieving a 50 per cent share of the planned maintenance contracts market by 2011, in support of its strategy for sales growth across the Daily, Eurocargo, Stralis and Trakker ranges.

Commenting on the launch, Bob Lowden, Director of Customer Service at Iveco UK, says: “Keeping vehicles on the road with minimal interruptions for maintenance and repairs is everyone’s priority, and with Elements we have introduced a comprehensive choice of services to suit any commercial vehicle application.

“We’ve also created a more flexible and cost-efficient product and given dealers and operators the flexibility to select any combination from the five major ‘elements’ which make up the new offering, with service levels each priced and customised to suit varying operators’ needs.”

The five core elements comprising the new package start at the entry-level ‘legal’, which covers planned maintenance inspections, tachograph re-calibrations, speed limiter checks, electronic document filing, defect reporting and MOTs, including preparation of the vehicle and collection and delivery from the test station.

For more detailed packages, customers can also select ‘service’ (which covers scheduled servicing), ‘friction’ (which covers repair and replacement of selected key components due to wear and tear), ‘motion’ (which includes non-scheduled repairs) and ‘fleet management’ (which covers all aspects of scheduled vehicle maintenance management, including KPI reporting on dealer performance and pro-active management of trends).

“This effectively allows customers to define exactly how much support they want from a planned maintenance contract, and ensures we have a package to suit every Iveco customer. As an example, in the past we’ve had operators which only wanted a contract to cover their PMI’s, whereas other fleets have wanted a contract to cover routine servicing, but not PMI’s. With the launch of Elements, we can meet all of these requirements – and a whole lot more,” adds Mr Lowden.

As an added benefit, the new Elements system enables Iveco dealers to provide instant quotes to customers on any variation of planned maintenance contract, replacing the previous CostCare system which required a minimum 24 hour turnaround.

The new Iveco Elements contracts can be supplied with all new and approved used Iveco vehicles sold by dealers in the UK, with contract periods ranging from two years and upwards.
