Ping Europe raises its profile with Volkswagen

Ping Europe raises its profile with Volkswagen The leading manufacturer of custom-fit golf equipment, Ping Europe Ltd, will have an unmistakable presence at golf courses throughout the UK, Eire, France, Germany and Holland, thanks to its new liveried Volkswagen LT35 vans. Five high-roof long wheelbase LT35 vans have been bought from the Heron Volkswagen Van Centre in Newark, and will be the focal point at the company’s demonstration days, as well as serving as mobile workshops.

Two left hand drive models were ordered to operate in Europe while the other three vans will be based in the UK and Eire. All five carry the distinctive Ping Europe livery.

The cavernous load area of the Volkswagen LT35 has been divided into two sections: one for the storage of the large amount of golf equipment that needs to be carried, and the other to be used as a workshop. This area accommodates a special workbench used to make alterations to Ping irons, a process which requires the operator to stand inside the van, and which is only possible thanks to the van’s high roof. Bott Limited, specialists in the manufacture and installation of workshops and storage systems, carried out the conversion work.

Dave Fanning, European Marketing Manager for Ping Europe, said: ‘We wanted a van that would raise our profile at the demonstration days and carry more equipment. We have used Volkswagen Transporters in the past, finding the reliability and performance of the vans and the quality of Volkswagen’s service very impressive. So the decision to buy the bigger LT was not difficult to make.’

Ping Europe’s LT35 vans are powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled 2.8-litre diesel engine offering 158 PS. Driver safety is a major consideration in the design of Volkswagen’s range of light commercial vehicles. The Volkswagen LT has disc brakes all round while ABS, Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and a brakeforce limiter ensuring optimum distribution of braking energy are all standard features.

In September the Ping Europe LT35 vans will be attending the final of the Volkswagen Masters Amateur Championship, which is being played at the famous St Andrews course in Scotland.
