Experience the all new Wookey Hole Caves this summer
Wookey Hole Caves has been one of the UK’s favourite tourist attractions for decades but this summer visitors will be treated to an all new experience at the famous resort.
Currently undergoing a huge expansion project to open up previously unseen caves and tunnels Wookey Hole Caves is expected to draw thousands of families over the holidays with visiting guests being among the first to explore the unexplored.
While the existing Wookey Hole site will remain fully open throughout the summer months the expansion is an ongoing project so managers are urging people to check the website for which of the new sections will be open on which days.
If this isn’t enough visitors will be forgiven for thinking they had mistakenly stumbled into Jurassic Park as Wookey has introduced the thrilling Walkabout Dino, a life-like robot which will be seen roaming the Dinosaur Valley and delighting guests.
With life-like sounds and an animated face which blinks, the full-sized Walkabout Dino will move, run, swish his tail around and tower over visitors as they explore the attraction.
And the magic doesn’t end there as families are treated to a ‘Lost World’ 4D experience in the new neighbouring cinematic theatre which will transport them to a primeval landscape and an exhilarating race against time away from 4D Pterodactyls and a terrifying T-Rex.
Daniel Medley, of Wookey Hole Caves, said: “The Summer Holidays at Wookey Hole are our favourite time of year when families can spend time exploring the attractions and staying in our onsite hotel. This Summer we are pulling out all the stops and have added all new features for our loyal customers to enjoy as well as those who have never visited before.
“The cave expansion is one of the biggest changes in Wookey Hole history and is so exciting! We can’t wait to open up the new cave and let people in. It is an ongoing project so we’re keen to stress that not all of the new section may be ready for viewing but at the very least visitors will see a newly formed tunnel which has never been seen before.
“Our offering here is second to none and the addition of the Walkabout Dino comes at a great time during all the Jurassic World frenzy! We’re certain this will become one of our most talked about attractions.
“Everything is included in one ticket price meaning a great value for money day out. Families learn all about our history and the legend of the witch within the deep caverns on our cave tour and the new 4D cinema experience has been immensely popular with all ages. Families are guaranteed to have a full day of fun with us, in fact, they won’t want to leave!”
The familiar Wookey favourites will be in residence including the infamous Wookey Hole Witch who will be flying in on her broomstick to meet and greet visitors. The Wookey Hole Circus will also be showcasing an all new show ‘Hocus Pocus’ in the 400-seater theatre, dazzling audiences with magic, trapeze acts, silk skills, wire walking and unicycle tricks.
Also onsite is a mirror maze, crazy golf, pirate zap zone, cave museum, fairy garden, paper mill, Victorian penny arcade and Captain Jack’s Restaurant.
Tickets to the attraction cost £18 per adult and £12 per child with under threes going free. A 15% discount is also available for online bookings.
For families travelling from further afield or for those wanting to make a weekend of it, the Summer accommodation package includes an overnight stay in the onsite Wookey Hole Hotel for two adults and two children, entry to Wookey Hole, continental breakfast, a round of crazy golf, fun packs for the kids and free entry into the Mill and Play Areas in the evening for £129.
