New neighbourhood in Telford nears completion

The transformation of a former industrial site in Telford is almost complete with the final few of 230-plus new homes now on sale.

Trenchwood Gardens is a sought-after new neighbourhood on the site of a former an iron, gas and rubber works and has been created by award winning homebuilder Redrow.

Launched almost five years ago, the development features two, three and four-bedroom designs from the sought-after Heritage Collection.

More than 220 homes have been sold with the vast majority of those properties now occupied. Just 10 homes remain for sale and they aren’t expected to be around for long.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Trenchwood Gardens remains as popular today as it was when we opened the show homes in January 2011. Since then we’ve achieved a steady sales rate and as we approach a sell-out there’s no sign of things slowing down. If anything we’re now selling quicker as there’s a real sense of urgency, with buyers worrying they’ll miss out if they don’t act fast.”

Despite the limited availability, there’s still a good selection of property sizes and styles, including two-bedroom designs that are well-suited to first time buyers and downsizers alike, plus substantial four-bedroom family homes.

All of the properties fall within the threshold for Help to Buy. The Government-backed scheme provides buyers with a 20% equity loan towards their new home, interest-free for five years, and means they can purchase with just a 5% deposit.

For example a two-bedroom Evesham style home, usually costing £134,995 could be snapped up for an initial outlay of £107,996, including a customer deposit of £6,750.

“Many of our customers at Trenchwood Gardens have seized the opportunity to reduce the initial cost of homeownership with Help to Buy,” Pauline added.

“The beauty of the scheme is that it’s not just for first time buyers, but can also be used to help those making their next move on the housing ladder providing they’ve sold their previous property subject to contact. It’s ideal for those who perhaps don’t have a lot of equity in the home they’re moving from.”
