Summer in the French Alps is always a star attraction but in 2016 there's an event that's drawing even more attention to this beautiful region.

The Tour-de-France is a cycling tour de force. And this year's route offers the opportunities to witness one of sporting's greatest events as well as enjoy the most luxurious chalets and accommodation at the ski resort of Morzine – all thanks to VIP Chalets.

Saturday the 23rd of July will see Morzine become the finale of the second last stage of the 3,519km race. The route then finishes in Paris after a flight to the capital.

The stunning backdrop of rolling hills and mountains will be the perfect accompaniment to some world-class cycling . . . and world-class service, as VIP Chalets welcomes guests to its lovely chalets, where they can relax or join in the sporting celebrations.

The year's route begins at Mont Saint-Michel with the 103rd Tour-de-France going through Spain, Andorra and Switzerland on the way to Morzine.

There will be 21 different stages across a range of terrains, with nine of those being mountainous stages that will see four summit finishes. Up to 22 teams with nine riders in each will battle it out for the Yellow jersey.

Not only will the Tour be passing through Morzine, but two weeks before this amazing stage, join the 15,000 cyclists in the Etape du Tour. The Etape du Tour is probably the most famous sportive event in the world and is the only chance each year to ride the same route as the pro riders in the Tour de France on closed roads.

With a total of seven of the region's best chalets on offer from VIP Chalets, guests are sure to find the perfect place to take in the sights, the cycling and the sporting splendour.

Whether it's the panoramic views of the surrounding summits that come with Chalet Kaila, the stunningly designed Chalet CLUB Alaska, or the spacious and comforting Chalet Berger, everyone will be able to enjoy the event and a relaxing break in their own dream environment.

VIP Chalets Summer chalets are all perfectly located in the centre of town, so visitors will never be far from the action, the local amenities or the lifts to the surrounding peaks.

Along with a range of catering options, all of VIP Chalets properties are offered with all mod cons. From hot-tubs and saunas to cinema rooms and private heated terraces, the chalets are designed with comfort in mind.
