Honda’s SH300i is now in the shops!

Joining the family of 50, 125 and 150cc scooters is the daddy of the range – the SH300i. Since its launch back in 1984, around 350,000 SH scooters have been sold around the world and this latest version, with its mid-size engine, combines all the attributes of city-slicker commuting that the SH family have been renowned for, along with more power and improved safety courtesy of Honda’s advanced braking systems.
The 279.1cc motor is derived from the CRF-range of four-stroke motocross and enduro machines, providing instant urge and fuel-efficient returns, thanks to its advanced fuel-injection system. Meanwhile Dual CBS and Honda’s ABS braking systems ensure safe, swift braking in all conditions.
Carrying space is always important and at a premium on a scooter and the SH300i has underseat storage for an open-face lid, a glove box and Honda supplies the SH300i with a free 35-litre top-box.
Journalists on the recent launch of the new model were impressed with the scooter, Bertie Simmonds said: “This scooter is an absolute knockout. The motor is a peach, feeling more like a 400 or 500 rather than a 279.1cc four-stroke. Stopping is similarly assured as the SH is equipped with awesome Dual CBS and ABS stoppers
and they were brilliant on the wet roads we encountered. Handling is also mega, as the small dimensions make slipping elegantly through urban traffic an absolute whiz. For real inner-city sprawl, I doubt you could do much better.”
The SH300i costs £3599 on the road and is available now.
