The Pilgrim Country House Hotel in the Wye Valley on the border with Wales has always offered superb value for money, but now you can stay for two nights in May from just £90 per person (two sharing) including full English breakfast and a dinner allowance of £20 per person each night.

The hotel has been owned and run by ex-England and Lions rugby international Steve Boyle for 13 years, and he has created a retreat which is renowned for its lack of formality, great food – created by long standing, classically trained chef, Deepak Kumar – and friendly staff. The repeat business figure is very high and May is filling fast.

The hotel – which has uninterrupted views over the Wales border towards the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons – is in the heart of great walking country (the Herefordshire Trail literally passes the front door) and complimentary maps/guide notes are available from the hotel reception.

There are also plenty of options for golfers with the golf courses of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Monmouthshire are all within easy reach – many less than 15 minutes by car. They include The Herefordshire, Burghill Valley, Ross on Wye, South Herefordshire, Monmouth and Rolls of Monmouth

If time is short, the Pilgrim also offers a special ‘Laid Back Sunday’ offer. The overnight deal costs from just £46 per person (two sharing) and includes home-made cream tea on arrival, a £20 per person allowance towards dinner and Bed & Breakfast in the best available room. Extra nights are an option, subject to availability.
