Even if you have arranged for some exotic family holiday overseas, the school summer break lasts a good six weeks so why not enjoy a few days in the New Forest when the UK weather is at its warmest?

Cottage Lodge Hotel, the small, family-run eco-friendly property in Brockenhurst, in the heart of the New Forest, offers far better value for money and personal service than you will find at larger, soul-less hotels.

Stays during the school summer holidays cost from just £30 per person per night (two sharing) including the famous New Forest Marque, full-English breakfast, free, off-road, personalised parking, free Wi-Fi plus free milk and cakes!

Cottage Lodge has won numerous awards for its eco-friendly credentials and many of the custom-made beds have been crafted from ‘fallen’ New Forest trees.

Dinner can be enjoyed in the Fallen Tree restaurant, alternatively visit the many pubs and restaurants that are located in the village.

Brockenhurst is the perfect base to explore the forest, with the other main towns of Beaulieu, Lyndhurst (the capital of the forest) and the market town of Lymington on the coast, all just a short drive away.

There are fabulous New Forest walks available direct from the hotel (free guides available) or for those who prefer to explore on two wheels, bike and tandems can also be hired in the village.

Alternatively, the ‘topless’ New Forest ‘hop on hop off’ bus (buy tickets here) operates during the summer months, stopping off at all the main places of interest including The National Motor Museum and Palace at Beaulieu, the ancient ship-building estuary of Buckler’s Hard, and Lymington on the southern tip of the forest (and which has a great street market every Saturday).

Other places that are well worth visiting by bus or bike include Exbury Gardens and steam railway, Ringwood Brewery and the Sammy Miller Motorbike Museum.
