Try one of Vauxhall’s new conversions

10th March 2009 Print
Vauxhall Movano Transporter With the Six Nations rugby tournament in full swing, tries and conversions are at the forefront of many people’s minds – so why not take the chance to try a conversion of your own?

And as far as conversions go, they don’t come much larger than Vauxhall’s latest additions to the seriously big Movano line-up…

Very much the prop forwards of the Movano model range in terms of their dimensions, the new Grounds Maintenance Vehicle and Car Transporter bodies add further versatility to the already multifunctional line-up of Core and Recognised conversions.

Both bodies are converted by Roadload of Norfolk, and are based on Movano chassis cabs – the LWB variant for the Car Transporter and the MWB variant for the Grounds Maintenance Vehicle.

The Car Transporter comes with a lightweight beavertail body made from aerospace-grade alloy and features LED side marker and rear lights, thermoplastic rear mud wings, loading ramps with lockable underbody stowage facility, semi air-suspension with adjustable ride height, eight lashing eyes and a lockable tool locker. Full air suspension, a power winch and roof-mounted lightbox are extra cost options.

The body is available on any Movano LWB chassis cab, all of which feature a Euro IV compliant 2.5-litre CDTi engine, with a choice of 100, 120 or 146PS power outputs and a standard six-speed manual gearbox. The maximum payload is dependent on engine choice, but is up to 1583kg.

Adding even further diversity to Vauxhall’s Recognised Conversion line-up, the Movano Grounds Maintenance Vehicle is designed to suit the requirements of groundsmen and park-keepers among other professions. As well as a beavertail loading ramp designed to take small tractors or plant, standard features include full air-lowering suspension with set ride height, eight underbody rope hooks, six load-floor lashing eyes, thermoplastic rear mud wings and LED side marker and rear lights.

Options include an H-frame light box, a lockable plastic belly locker, a range of lockable storage box options, a set of winter dropsides, an eight-litre hot/cold powered handwash plus a 10-litre door-mounted petrol can and 40-litre on-board diesel refuelling tank.

Both body styles come with the same level of standard kit as all Movanos, meaning they get a driver’s airbag, dual passenger bench seat, electronic engine deadlock and immobiliser, stereo CD/radio, remote central locking and optional air conditioning, passenger airbag, remote control security system and satellite navigation.

In each case, the base vehicle, excluding the converted components, is also covered by Vauxhall’s comprehensive three-year/100,000-mile warranty, 12 months’ Vauxhall Assistance roadside rescue package and six-year anti-perforation warranty.
