Getting rid of anxiety

Anxiety can be a debilitating feeling and can make you feel like you’re unable to deal with day to day life. If you want to banish this feeling, then there’s a lot of things that you can do to get rid of those butterflies. 

Making a List

Creating a list of things that are causing you stress or are associated with your anxiety can take a massive weight off your mind. If your anxiety is stemming from work, for example, then write down the things that you can do and things you can’t, which gives you a sense of control again. 

For many people with anxiety, bedtime is when they feel these emotions the most, so you might want to keep a pen and paper beside the bed. 

Breathe Deeply

Taking deep breaths will start to make you feel much better, especially if you’re on the verge of a panic attack. Stopping and breathing, perhaps doing some exercises will start to stave off those feelings of anxiety. This also helps you to ground yourself and be aware of what’s around you, which will reduce those feelings too. 

Evaluate your Diet

Lots of foods and drinks can have an effect on anxiety, with caffeine, alcohol and sugar all able to influence it. These substances can all make you feel keyed up and trigger an attack of anxiety, which can have a long term impact on how you feel for the rest of the day. 

Cutting out certain elements of your diet can cut down on the instances of anxiety, as you can evaluate how you feel without them. Alcohol is used by a lot of people with anxiety to self-medicate, but this is a terrible idea as it will only cause you stress when you cut it back out. 

See a Therapist

Therapy and talking to a professional can do wonders for how you feel, as you’re able to get those anxious thoughts out in the open. It doesn’t have to be expensive either, as you can claim a free therapy session from some online providers to get started. 

You’ll find that communicating with a professional will also help you to work out where this anxiety may be coming from. They can spot patterns that you might be missing, like feeling anxious after a fight with a partner or before a work event. 

Work on your Finances

Financial anxiety is a big stress for a lot of people, as you worry about money and how you’ll make it to the next month. If you live paycheck to paycheck or beyond your means, then this can cause you issues with anxiety. 

Working on your finances can often be easier said than done, but small things like paying off debt can take a load off your mind. You might not get financial freedom overnight, but often just working towards better finances is enough to quell those fears. 

Anxiety is hard to live with, but with the right tactics, you can reduce the impact that it has on your life overall.
