United Arab Emirates have invested a lot of money over the last couple of decades to secure some of the biggest sports events in the world.

The popular holiday destination is a great place to visit if you like to take in different sports events on your travels. Here are three which you should consider attending.

Dubai World Cup

The Dubai World Cup is one of the richest horse races in the world. The event is established now on the global horse racing calendar as it was inaugurated in 1996.

This race attracts the best horses from around the globe. It is able to do that as the contest takes place on dirt, a surface which North American horses are used to racing on.

The Dubai World Cup is the feature race on what is a fantastic evening of racing at Meydan Racecourse. It is also the final meeting of the Dubai World Cup Carnival. In 2019 Thunder Snow made history by becoming the first horse to win the race for the second consecutive year.

There is no doubt that Meydan Racecourse is one of the best anywhere in the world. It was built in 2010 at the cost of $1.25 billion. It also includes a five-star hotel, restaurant and racing museum, while it has the capacity for 60,000 spectators to attend.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Formula One fans will not want to miss the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix if they are lucky enough to be in the UAE for the race. The event at the Yas Marina Circuit has often been the finale in the F1 calendar so there can be a lot riding on this contest.

In 2009 the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the first ever day-night race in the sport. There is something quite special about seeing these incredible cars race around the track in the evening so you are sure to be blown away if you are able to attend.

World champion Lewis Hamilton has dominated this Grand Prix since it was added to the calendar in 2009. He has won the contest eight times. The British driver is right at the top of his game at the moment and is 1/10 in the Drivers' Championship betting to secure his seventh world title this year. He will be keen to return to Abu Dhabi as it is a race he enjoys driving in.

World Tour Championship

The climax of the European Tour in golf is the World Tour Championship in Dubai on the Earth Course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. This tournament is contested by the leading 60 players in the Race to Dubai leaderboard. The prize money on offer is one of the biggest pools in world golf.

There are four days for you to choose from across the week. Not only can you admire some of the shots taken by the leading golfers in the world, but it is also great exercise walking around the course in the sweltering sunshine. Last year, Jon Rahm was successful in the event with a score of -19. Recent winners also include Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson and Danny Willett.

Enjoy your next visit to this amazing country and hopefully one of the above three events will be a special experience for you.
