Boast takes victory at Amman Valley The Amman Valley Trotting track in South Wales, played host to the Silkolene Shorttrack UK championships at the weekend, where Suzuki mounted Pete Boast was to play hard ball on his RM-Z450 against the strong European rider line-up.

With scorching weather all weekend the conditions were to be hot both on and off the track, with 36 riders all-trying to compete for the 12 spaces in the grand final for the main event. Pete had the pick of the front row slots on his RM-Z450 due to his semi final wins and from this produced the hole shot. Rival Marco Belli passed Pete as they came down the back straight, and although hanging on for three laps the gap increased and second spot was secured for the Boast. Pete now shares the lead in the championship with Marco.

Moving to the Suzuki 600 twin for the Thunderbike class, the extraordinarily high-speed final was to see Boast being pushed by Jan-Willam Jansen for the top spot. Boast took the win as the chequered flag waved.

Commenting on the weekend, Pete said, “I was being pushed to the limits today but really enjoyed it. Both bikes have performed brilliantly again leaving me with more vital points to take through to the next round.”

Round three of the Shorttrack Championship will be on 06th July at South Tees Motorsport Park.
