Suzuki top British Masters

Round four of the Wulfsport British Masters Championship returned to the popular Culham Park track in Oxfordshire at the weekend, where once again James Dunn and Scott Elderfield triumphed on their Suzuki machines in the small wheel and Youth 125 classes.

With the track in perfect condition and the weather staying dry, Suzuki Swift rider Scott Elderfield could not have had a better weekend. Taking the fastest time in qualifying on the RM-Z250 in the Youth 125 class, the rest of the field knew they would have a hard couple of days ahead. All four races over the Saturday and Sunday were to follow the same format; get the holeshot to take the lead. With an impressive lead of 40 seconds or more due to faultless and smooth riding, Scott came past the chequered flag to take all four wins. A well-placed fifth position has now been secured in the championship standings.

Also competing in the Pro 125 class, Elderfield took a great fourth qualifying position. Race one saw the RM-Z250 being pushed hard after Scott was involved in a first corner incident. Remounting in last place, battles were fought through the field, as eighth position was claimed. Race two was to see a much better start with him being able to stay with the more experienced runners to finish in a fantastic sixth position. Scott’s championship position has now increased to 19th.

James Dunn on his RM85 had some battling to do to ensure he was within the top three on both Saturday races. With some excellent overtaking moves, race one saw James take third spot before the backmarkers came into play; he came through to finish in third. The second race saw the Suzuki rider crash out of a corner, losing the well-fought second place and leaving the gap too big to claw back, again third place was secured. Sunday was a different story, with a James taking the holeshot in both races and ensuring the wins were claimed. Taking the overall win from the weekend, James will go into the next round continuing his lead in the S/W 85 class.

Round five of the British Masters will be held at Pontrilas on 5th and 6th July.
