Hawkstone keeps Suzuki riders on top
The penultimate round of the British Masters series took place at the legendary Hawkstone Park circuit at the weekend. With the horrendous weather conditions making the track tricky in places, this did not deter the two young gun Suzuki riders from showing how it should be done.Leaving the rest of the field following his mud tracks on the Saturday, small wheel RM85 rider James Dunn took podium finishes in both of the races. Sunday was to see Dunn work hard for the win in the drying conditions during the first race and fighting Callan Cooper hard in the second, who held James off giving him his only second place of the weekend. Dunn was to see the overall claimed from the weekend and his championship lead extended ready for the last round in a months time.
Competing in the Youth 125cc class over the weekend on his RM-Z250, Scott Elderfield was to claim both the holeshots on the Saturday and with smooth riding came away with both wins. On the Sunday a momentary lapse of concentration on a corner was to see the bike dropped and the gap decreased between him and second position, this however didn’t loose the RM-Z rider any ground and he came away with the win. Claiming the win in the fourth race was to see a clean sweep for the weekend and his championship points increased.
Competing in a further two races on the Sunday in the Pro 125cc group was to see Elderfield show he can ride at highly competitive levels. Having some great battles and showing true form he was to come through to sixth in the first race and eighth in the second.
The last round of the British Masters championship is to be held at Foxhills on 6th / 7th September.
