Promising performance for relentless Suzuki MX team

In MX2, Martin Barr was a competitive sixth fastest in qualifying, going on to holeshot the first race, only to crash later that lap. Remounting, Barr fought back to a solid tenth place at the flag, before regrouping for race two and charging hard to a final seventh place finish and ninth overall on the day.
With Scott Columb still sitting-in for injured regular Scott Probert, the New Zealander's bike fitness was clearly improved, after he took his RM-Z450 to a well-earned ninth place in race one, repeating the result in the second race too. Regular MX1 team rider, Jamie Law, suffered a luckless weekend after an electrical problem ended his first race while well inside the top ten, and a crash in the second, effectively ended his chance of a strong result too.
In the ultra-competitive MXY2 class, fifteen year-old Matt Burrows made his debut, again showing the true determination and ability of one of the youngest riders in the class, to finish in 13th and 16th places respectively.
Team manager, Rob Hooper, commented, "Martin looked like he was heading to the level of result we know he is capable of, but unfortunately it was not to be today. He's frustrated by the nigglng thumb and elbow injury, which is certainly not helping his performance. Scott on the other hand, rode extremely well and really just needs to work on his starts, whereas Jamie's bad luck struck again, although we were all encouraged by his performance before the technical gremlin in race one. A special mention must go to Matt Burrows, who rode very well in such strong competition."
