Relentless performance North and South

21st April 2009 Print
Suzuki It was very much a case of 'spreading resources' for the Relentless Suzuki MX team at the weekend, as the team split in two to compete in the British Masters Championship at Dean Moor in Cumbria and the Red Bull Pro Series at Landrake in Cornwall.

In the north, it would be team youngster Matt Burrow who would take the spoils, as the MXY2 contesting rider scooped the overall win in convincing style. Fastest in practice, three race wins and one runner-up finish, would secure a well-deserved top spot on the podium, giving the team's youngest rider his best result to date. With Martin Barr competing at the same event, he would back-up the team's performance with a second place overall in the MX2 class after finishing fourth in race one, and going on to finish a close second in the final race, just behind eventual winner Brad Anderson.

With regular team MX1 rider Jamie Law, joined by Martin Barr in the class, the team would finish the day with fourth and fifth place finishes overall, after Law took a great third in the first race and fifth in the second to clinch fourth, while Barr rode his RM-Z250 to fifth and sixth placed finishes to take his well-earned
overall result.

At the bottom of the country, it would be Scott Columb who would fly the team flag the highest, at the Red Bull Pro Series race in Cornwall. Riding a blistering pace from the off, the New Zealander scored a great win in the first race, before going on to finish third in the second, ending the day second overall.

Talking about another positive weekend of racing, team manager Rob Hooper commented, "Another superb weekend for the Relentless Suzuki MX team. To see Matt win his first big race was simply fantastic, and then to have Scott win the opening race of the Red Bull Pro on the Relentless Suzuki was almost too good to be true. With Martin backing it up with second place overall and Jamie continuing his return to full-fitness we really couldn't have asked for much more. Scott Probert used the Red Bull Pro races to improve his fitness more than anything, and despite a few set backs came away feeling better on the bike. I'm sure he'll be back to form soon."
