Nunn top Brit at home Grand Prix

Nunn, who decided to quit world competition at the end of last season to concentrate on his British Championship interests, went into his home Grand Prix with nothing to prove, but showed his ability in front of the 35,000 strong crowd with a strong 14th place finish in race one, before going on to score a great 10th place in race two, ahead of injured factory Suzuki rider Ken de Dycker.
Nunn commented, "I went into Mallory with nothing to prove really and just wanted to enjoy the experience. Race one was good, but I knew I could go better and did so in the second race. The RM-Z450 was running perfectly, and I was able to maintain my strong pace to the flag to take tenth in the race and eleventh overall."
Team manager, Mark Chamberlain added, "We didn't really set ourselves any goals for this weekend, but Carl rode well and showed what he is capable of. It was nice to compete on the world stage with no pressures and to come away with two strong results, ahead of some serious competition is just great."
MX2 rider, Mattis Karro did not ride at Mallory after suffering injury at the Catalunya Grand Prix just a few weeks ago. Team manager, Mark Chamberlain commented, "Following the injury to his hand, riding at Mallory simply wasn't an option for Mattis and a return at Hawkstone Park for the next Maxxis British Championship round is also unlikely at this stage. We're looking at the longer term for Matiss and will not rush him back into competitive action before he is ready. It wasn't in the general plan for him to be competing for the British Championship lead anyway, so we cannot allow this to cloud our judgement on what is best for him right now. He's been doing a great job in the British Championship, while learning all the time at GP's, so it's a shame but these things happen in racing."
