Mathia extends championship lead at Landrake

Team Doodson Suzuki youth rider Scott Mathia, put on another strong performance this weekend, as the fifth round of the British Masters championship went to Landrake in Cornwall.

Taking two second place finishes on day one, a holeshot from the RM-Z250 rider in race three turned into a 30 second lead by the finish line, giving him one of his most dominant performances to date.

By race four a start-line pile-up gave the Cheshire-based youngster work to do, but yet again made it back up the order, to climb the final step of the podium. With a 232 point championship lead over second place rider Luke Spense, Matthia now only needs eight points in the penultimate round, to take the championship title.

Also riding at the same meeting was Doodson Suzuki backed rider’s Liam Wright and James Dunn. With both riders in the MXY2 class it would be Wright who would show the strongest form, despite this being his first major race after injury sidelined him at the beginning of the season. Taking two third place finishes early on, race three would be his best of the day with a great runner-up finish, before tiredness saw him slow and settle for sixth place in the last race, ensuring a great third overall on the day.

Teammate Dunn would have some harder rides, but came away with two podiums and a sixth overall.
