Edmondson wins at Knighton

13th July 2009 Print
Paul Edmondson Suzuki Enduro rider Paul ‘Fast Eddy’ Edmondson blitzed the opposition at the second round of the British Enduro Championship, at Knighton, over the weekend.

Months of planning and training paid dividends as Fast Eddy finished the first day almost 30 seconds ahead of the opposition after seven special tests. Heavy showers at each test on day one made the going very tricky but Edmondson, heading for his 40th birthday later this week, used all of his vast experience and showed the youngsters just how to ride the tough going.

Day two saw another excellent performance in significantly drier conditions and although David Knight was hot on Edmondson’s heels the Suzuki rider managed to keep a firm grip on the overall number one spot, even though Knight won the second day, with an excellent ride to maintain a significant time gap.

Fast Eddy’s modified RM-Z250 was the perfect machine for the conditions, plenty of usable power thanks to a 290cc bore kit, but standard otherwise, which translated into excellent traction on the slippery grass sections.

Edmondson: ‘I had planned for this event for months and my preparation proved to be spot on. The bike was simply perfect for the conditions and although some of the time checks became tight on the first day as the heavy rain made some of the course tricky, especially in the Radnor Forest, the Suzuki was a dream to ride and never missed a beat.’
