Kane ends World Championship in third

MVR-D Suzuki's Natalie Kane, ended her 2009 World Championship campaign in a great third place, as the young Irish rider took a solid fourth overall in the final round of the series, held at Lierop in Holland at the weekend.

Kane, who rode to a great third place finish at the previous round in Sweden, repeated the result in race two at Lierop, bettering her first race finish of fifth, to take fourth overall on the day on her RM-Z250. With series rival Maria Franke out with injury, Kane would take advantage to finish the 2009 FIM Women's World Championship in a great third place.

Kane: "Although I love the Lierop track, it's still been a tough weekend of racing. Race one didn't quite go to plan, but I managed to get my head down in the second moto and eventually just settled for third spot behind Fontansei, keeping it upright to take the final podium spot in the series standings. To say I'm pleased is an understatement. I'd just like to thank the whole team for providing me with such a great package this season and for everyones support along the way."

In the MX2 Championship, Mattis Karro ended his day in 17th overall, despite narrowly missing out on a top-ten finish in race one, to finish in 13th. A less successful second moto would see the Latvian finish further down the order in 18th after tiring towards the end of the race.

Team manager, Mark Chamberlain: Huge congratulations to Nat today. She's worked incredibly hard this season and matured to become a great rider. Although we're all used to her dominance in the UK, it's pleasing to see her show that her speed is a match for the world's best riders. We're all over the moon for her. Mattis didn't have a great weekend, although I think we can be pleased with his qualifying pace and first race result."
