You can also take a trip to one of the seven nearby beaches. All of them are highly recommendable in terms of white sands and crystal clear waters, let alone the year-round summer temperatures.

You can even enjoy hiking in the mountains or take a tour out to the tobacco plantations in some provinces that surround the capital.

First plan your accommodation

When you are planning your trip to Cuba, it is important to book your accommodation in advance. There are many hotels and resorts to choose from, so you should research your options before you book, since the tourist demand tends to be high during certain times of the year. Getting Around

If you want to explore all the different regions you can take taxis or buses, but these can be a little bit uncomfortable and not quite reliable. If you are staying in a resort, you may not need to leave the property as most resorts have everything you need on-site.

What will you need to pack when planning a trip to Cuba

Bear in mind that Cuba is a tropical country when you are packing for your trip there. So make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, hats or caps and sunglasses. You should also pack light, comfortable clothing as it can be quite hot and humid most of the time. Insect repellent is also recommendable, especially during the nights.

Oh!, don't forget to pack your swimsuit so you can enjoy the beautiful beaches!

What to see in Cuba?

There are a bunch of typical places tourists can enjoy when spending some days on the island. The capital city, with all its historic places, is one of them. But some other cities offer nice places for tourists to visit. Let’s see some of them.

Havana

Havana is the capital of Cuba and it is a very popular tourist destination. There are many things to see and do in Havana, such as exploring the old part of the town, where old and deteriorated pre-revolution buildings are still kept as tourist attractions.

A typical tour through the city includes:

- Capitolio Nacional: Built in 1929 as the National Capitol Building, it is now a museum and public library.

- Museo de la Revolución (Revolution Museum): Formerly the Presidential House, it was built between 1909 and 1920. It has a large collection of historical items from the war of independence against Spanish and, mainly, the pre- and post- revolutionary periods.

- The Great Theater “Alicia Alonso”: A neo-baroque style building that houses the Cuban National Ballet. It has been named after the world famous Cuban dancer who passed away in 2019.

- Castillo de la Real Fuerza (Castle of the Royal Force): It was built between 1562 and 1577 as a defense against corsairs and pirates. So it is the oldest bastion fort of the whole American continent, and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1982.

After visiting these museums and historical places, it is mandatory to taste the local food. Typical dishes like ropa vieja, moros y cristianos or tasajo a la cubana will surprise you with their colorful look and delicious taste.

From the center of Old Havana you can also take a trip to the beach or go hiking in the mountains.
