Kwik-Fit offers free MOT reminder service
Some 13.8 million (41%) British motorists say that they often struggle to remember their car’s MOT expiry date, according to a survey from Kwik-Fit. Not surprisingly then the company’s research shows that one-in-four motorists (8.1 million) have driven a car without an MOT.And with today’s hectic lifestyles making it difficult to remember the simplest of dates, such as friends and family’s birthdays, it seems many motorists are keen to receive a little prompt now and then to help them remember.
In fact, all 13.8 million memory lapse motorists agreed that a similar reminder system to road tax should form a mandatory part of an MOT station’s services.
With September being the peak month for MOTs – Kwik-Fit is urging motorists to check their records, and if they need it book an MOT test at Kwik-Fit.
For motorists whose MOT is due after September, Kwik-Fit still has its reminder system, which alerts motorists by email before their MOT expiry date. If you would like to register for a free email reminder, please email your Name, Vehicle Reg and MOT Renewal date to remindme@kwik-fit.com
David White, Customer Services Director, Kwik-Fit, comments: “We appreciate that people lead busy lives and can easily forget when their car is due an MOT, which is why we are trying to make it as easy as possible. We’d urge other garages to follow our lead as we believe together we could help reduce the amount of motorists that unwittingly drive around without an MOT- and in doing so keeping Britain’s roads safer.”
Motorists who are caught driving vehicles without a valid MOT certificate face a £60 fine. A lapsed MOT can also impact on car insurance and prevent motorists from renewing their road tax.
Motorists booking and paying online can get an MOT for a market busting £35, which represents an incredible saving of 35% on the statutory MOT fee.
