New vehicles join World of Top Gear line-up

Fans of Top Gear will be able to see three new vehicles in the World of Top Gear exhibition at Beaulieu in the New Forest from this Saturday (19th September).

The vehicles which have come straight from the Top Gear studio, include the Indestructible Toyota Hilux, originally bought as part of a plan to redesign the studio set. Jeremy Clarkson set out to prove that the car was indeed ‘destructible’ and when he failed, James May stepped in to finish the job. He failed too.

Also joining the line up of Top Gear cars in the exhibition is the Triumph Herald, piloted by James May during both the first and second chapters of Top Gear’s attempts to create amphibious cars, and the Fiat Coupé, used by Jeremy Clarkson in the Top Gear police car challenge.

The vehicles will be on display until Sunday 25th October, after which they will return to the studio set for the start of filming on the next series of this popular TV motoring show.

“We are delighted to have these new exhibits from the Top Gear studio to include in the exhibition, especially the iconic Indestructible Hilux, a firm favourite with fans of the show,” said Stephen Munn, Commercial Director at the National Motor Museum.

World of Top Gear features a collection of cars created by presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May for some of their most ambitious challenges on the TV show over the years.

Exhibition highlights include the Top Gear ‘Enormodrome’ which aims to recreate the feel of the Top Gear studio, where the TV show is filmed in front of a live audience.

Regular features from the programme including the Cool Wall and the Celebrity ‘Lap Times’ boards are kept up to date in line with the show. Visitors can also watch an exclusive video presentation from behind the scenes at the TG HQ with Jeremy, Richard and James together with clips from the show featuring the cars on display.
