RIAS warns Easter holiday makers to take cover
Recent storms, together with some of the wettest weather for months and a very early Easter have made getting away this Bank Holiday weekend an even more attractive prospect than ever, and holiday makers are expected to be heading for the UK’s ports and airports in their droves. But RIAS Insurance, which specialises in providing quality insurance products at low prices for the over 50s, warns of the problems many will face because they fail to take out travel insurance before setting off. At least one in three people suffer some kind of mishap while abroad, including missed flights, cancelled holidays, personal injury, lost or stolen luggage, or the theft of personal possessions, money or credit cards, yet almost 20% of travellers are uninsured.
RIAS Managing Director Janet Connor says: “Many people are looking forward to getting away for an Easter break, and will no doubt take great care choosing where to go, where to stay and even what to wear. But it’s a great shame that in spite of the risks of holidaying without insurance, many travellers will leave home without it and could end up paying a much higher price if anything goes wrong. We advise our customers that if they want to get away for the Easter holidays with confidence and complete peace of mind, having the appropriate travel insurance cover in place before leaving home is an absolute must.”
