American Express urges holiday makers to check cover

With looming threats of grid lock Britain and bad weather forecast for the Easter bank holiday weekend break, American Express Insurance Services has urged those going for a break within the UK to ensure they check their travel insurance cover. Many people are unaware that they may not be covered when travelling, even a relatively small distance away from home.

Chris Rolland, Head of American Express Insurance Services commented: "It is very easy to dissociate the need for travel insurance when not travelling abroad. We would like to remind all travellers in order to protect themselves from getting caught out unaware that insurance is needed, even if you are only on a short trip within the UK. With reported travel delays and bad weather expected across the UK over the Easter holidays, American Express Insurance will cover journeys that have been delayed by over 6 hours as well as any lost or damaged baggage when at least one nights accommodations is booked for your trip. It is advisable to check you have the right cover for your holiday break".
