AXA travel policies updated to provide medical cover in Channel Islands
AXA, the UK's largest travel insurance provider, has announced that all of its travel insurance policies are being updated to reflect the Department of Health's ruling on medical treatment in the Channel Islands. The current agreement, which allows UK travellers to get a limited number of medical treatments in the Channel Islands free of charge, will end on 31 March. Free medical treatment for Channel Islanders visiting the UK will also end on this date. Travellers between these destinations will now need to have travel insurance if they want to avoid paying for medical treatment should they happen to fall ill or be injured while on holiday or a business trip.
All of AXA's travel insurance products, whether sold direct or through its many corporate partners, now offer this cover to ensure that visitors to and from the Channel Islands are protected.
Alison Patrick, Head of Travel at AXA, said: "It's important for consumers and business travellers to be aware of these changes and ensure that they have cover if they are travelling to or from the Channel Islands this year. All customers that have policies underwritten by AXA can feel safe in knowing that should the unfortunate happen while they are away, they will be covered for the cost of medical treatment."
