TescoCompare.com gets thumbs up from Defaqto

30th October 2007 Print
TescoCompare.com has been rated best car insurance comparison site by Defaqto, an independent product research company.

Defaqto carried out an analysis of 17 motor insurance comparison sites, assessing them for functionality and usability features. With a Defaqto rating of 87%, TescoCompare.com received the highest score of all tested sites.

Defaqto highlighted TescoCompare.com, which launched in September this year, as ‘the best overall service to consumers’.

Commenting on the Defaqto research, Peter Dingle, Managing Director at Tesco Compare.com said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this report, which is a great result for consumers and us alike. The Defaqto report vindicates the stance TescoCompare.com took when launching our car insurance comparison site. Our users are able to type in all of their details to guarantee they get the right level of cover for their individual needs. Unlike other sites, we do not believe in pre-selecting certain criteria for them, such as fixing the amount of voluntary excess, with the sole aim to keep quotes artificially low.

“We have worked very hard to develop a car insurance comparison site that goes beyond the usual price comparison tool. While price is important, the right level of cover is even more so. Our service therefore focuses on comparing prices and policy features and offering full transparency to consumers to ensure the car policy they choose is the right one for them.

“The most important factor for us was to enable consumers to make an informed decision on their car insurance needs and to ensure that the price we quote on our service is the final price they end up paying for the level of cover specified by them. We are delighted that Defaqto has recognised and rewarded our commitment of putting consumers first.”

Tesco Personal Finance has worked with each of its listed brands to ensure that the price quoted on the site is the end price customers will be paying. The price is no higher than if the customer bought direct.

Tesco Compare.com currently lists details of around 30 insurers, such as Churchill, RAC, More Th> n, Sheilas’ Wheels and many more. Tesco Compare.com will extend the number of its motor insurance partners in the near future. The site, which is backed by Royal Bank of Scotland, launched on 14th September 2007.
