Zurich launches commercial vehicle insurance on FCEDI

21st November 2007 Print
Zurich’s UK Broker Division is today launching a new product for light commercial vehicles which will be available initially through Open GI, SSP and CDL software houses.

The product will be transacted via Full Cycle EDI, and will be rolled out to the further software houses throughout 2008. FCEDI has become the main transactional platform for light commercial vehicles in recent years, with brokers moving away from insurer extranets and preferring the more typical personal lines model for transacting this sort of business.

The policy covers light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (such as transit vans, pick ups and small lorries) and the customer can select the option of third party fire and theft, or comprehensive cover.

The product also includes:

Loan vehicle provided when the vehicle is being repaired by an Authorised Repairer
New vehicle replacement if the vehicle is damaged beyond 50 per cent of its list price within one year from new
Audio/telephone equipment included
Overseas cover in EU and other specified countries
Trailers – third party cover is provided when attached to the vehicle
Personal Belongings are covered up to £100 while in the vehicle
Personal Accident cover for policyholder and spouse up to £2,000
Cover for theft or loss of keys – up to £1,000 to replace locks and other affected parts

Paul Greenwood, Director, Broker - SME said, “Having listened to our customers we have responded with this great new product. It gives us another string to our bow as we become a successful multi-niche specialist and allows us to reach sectors we don't currently attract. Offering it through FCEDI shows we have the appetite and desire to grow our business in this area.”
