Innovative new policy keeps learner drivers on the road

24th January 2008 Print
One of the most innovative insurance products to hit the market for young drivers has recently been launched.

With the tagline ‘Insurance for learner drivers’ www.clickthepepper.com is an exciting offering tailored specifically for learner and young drivers.

Unique in its concept, clickthepepper is categorised in three sections – red pepper, orange pepper and green pepper, to accommodate all categories of young driver.

Available to drivers from just 17 years of age clickthepepper is designed to help learner drivers practice between driving lessons. It insures provisional licence holders for fully comprehensive cover to drive any car (under insurance group 15 and £20,000 value) filling the gap left by most insurance policies that automatically exclude driving by provisional licence holders or those under a certain age.

Totally flexible, the policy embraces the needs of young people providing the facility to obtain cover instantly for four weeks initially and then for any period from seven days onwards. So - for as little as £15 a week - cover can be obtained.

The insurance covers the vehicle whilst the learner is accompanied by a qualified driver over the age of 21 and any accidents whilst the learner is driving will not affect the car owners no claims bonus.

Importantly clickthepepper will also insure errant drivers that have reverted to provisional status having suffered six or more penalty points in the first two years of holding a full driving licence.

It is this all embracing offering which makes clickthepepper unique and is a policy which is set to revolutionise the insurance marketplace.

Duncan Aspden of clickthepepper.com commented: “The launch of clickthepepper is based on extensive research into the young driver marketplace. Not only did we find that they were under-represented within the insurance sector but penalised simply because they were young. For drivers who had just passed their test premiums in many cases were totally prohibitive almost driving young people off the road or encouraging the less scrupulous to drive uninsured.

“By introducing a flexible package, clickthepepper provides a facility which is more in tune with the requirements of young people.

Duncan Aspden points out that there are safety considerations in how the policy is structured. He continued: “The fact that clickthepepper is available to provisional drivers enabling them to practice between lessons is a major plus point. It is a recognised fact that young drivers who learn with their parents are better drivers than those who just have professional tuition as they experience a wider range of circumstances and conditions than they would experience if restricting their tuition to that done with a driving instructor. The fact that clickthepepper offers young drivers the facility to gain additional experience can only help them be better drivers.”

Clickthepepper forms part of the Peppercom portfolio of products each of which is specifically tailored to a particular marketplace but each bearing the innovative flair which is the hallmark of the Peppercom brand.
