Insurance comparison site Gocompare.com has commented on the news that Swiftcover has become the first company to provide car insurance quotes through a mobile phone internet connection.

Hayley Parsons from Gocompare.com said; "Swiftcover is certainly one of the most innovative direct insurers and usually among the most competitive, but it is important to remember that they don't target every market or type of risk, therefore they won't be the cheapest provider every time.

"An illustration based on just six bits of information could be a helpful indicator to someone wanting to quickly research a certain type of car, but should not be taken as a final figure. Your driving record, any convictions, annual mileage, modifications to the car, additional drivers, the other vehicles you drive and whether you drive the car for social or business use will all affect the final premium.

"Anyone using this new service will need to re-key their full details at a later date to get a full quote. Therefore our advice would be not to make any decisions based on a ‘quick quote', but to follow up your mobile estimate with a more detailed search using a comparison site that can provide an accurate and guaranteed quotation."
