New benefits for one-for-fun motorists with MultiCar
A third of UK households now have more than one car and since January 2006, car insurance expert Admiral has offered MultiCar for these motorists. With MultiCar between 2 and 5 cars in the same household can be insured on the same policy, but all the cars covered receive a discount.
Admiral MultiCar has always been popular with motorists who own a classic or luxury car, and also own a run around car. Now it has made two major changes to further appeal to these types of motorist:
It has increased the age of vehicles it will insure from 30 to 50 years old
And it has discounted premiums for high-end luxury cars, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Rolls Royce
Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn, said, "Many of the motorists we cover have an everyday car and a classic older car, which they drive for fun. In the past, if these vehicles were more than 30 years old we weren't able to cover them, now we can. The only stipulation we have is that all the people insured to drive it are over 25."
Motorists who own a high value, luxury car as well as an everyday car can benefit from a reduction in rates with Admiral MultiCar for these cars. Sue Longthorn, said, "Aston Martins, Porsches and the like have become more popular in recent years, but quite often owners will only drive them for pleasure or on special journeys.
"We have been able to reduce premiums for these cars because their owners have proved to drive particularly carefully, and have a relatively low accident record."
Admiral MultiCar has discounted premiums between 5% and 7% on these vehicles and has also discounted premiums for expensive vehicles fitted with a TRACKER: 8% for vehicles worth over £30K and 11% for vehicles over £60K.
A typical motorist could save hundreds of pounds by insuring two cars through Admiral MultiCar. For example an IT Manager, living in south west London, who owns a Ford Focus and a 1975 VW Beetle could save between £41.67 and £179.33. If he drove an Aston Martin DB9 instead of the Beetle he could save £1,875.18.
Each Admiral MultiCar policy can hold up to five cars from any single household; this could be a couple, parents and their children, or even housemates. In fact it doesn't matter who owns the cars, as long as they are all for private use and all registered at the same address.
MultiCar is unique, because it offers a discount on all the vehicles on cover, the more cars on cover, the larger the discount. It also means customers deal with one insurance company, so less phoning round, less dates to remember and less to worry about.
