ASDA: Which? criticism of financial comparison sites
ASDA welcomes Which? announcement warning consumers against the potential dangers of using financial comparison websites. In an investigation of six sites for the consumer rights organisation's online arm, researchers found excess charges were often altered or not clearly displayed. Which.co.uk concluded the sites failed to act as one-stop-shops because none of them consistently provided the cheapest quote based on the researchers' criteria.
Gideon Ingham, head of insurance, Asda Financial Services, commented: "When an ASDA customer's insurance is due for renewal, we automatically re-broker the quote to ensure our customers genuinely receive the cheapest quote available each year. Our quotes include all excess charges and are completely transparent. By using cost comparison websites, customers are not always presented with a true quote."
