NFU Mutual says victims of floods should not be forgotten
John Kenny, Chief Claims Manager at insurer NFU Mutual comments on the impact of the recent floods: “Although the flood water is finally beginning to subside, now is the time when the victims need to know that they are not forgotten – activity across the industry is really stepping up a gear.“NFU Mutual currently has staff on the ground offering advice, support and in some cases, immediate interim payments to try and ease the stress.”
Mitch Goodwin, Claims Supply Chain Controller at NFU Mutual said, “I have personally visited the many different areas affected and the levels of flooding are truly unprecedented. Be it a terraced house on a new estate on the outskirts of Hull, or a farm in Yorkshire, the devastation is exactly the same. People have talked of waking up to find water at their ankles but within an hour it had risen up to their waists.
“Despite suffering terrible material and emotional losses, we have been amazed at the resilience of our customers. There is a great spirit amongst them and although they have gone through a traumatic experience they are determined not to get down. They just seem grateful to see us, the personal touch is definitely appreciated.”
Richard Pilkington, Technical Claims Manager at NFU Mutual has also visited the affected areas and comments, “We currently have a local dedicated team dealing specifically with these claims whilst our other teams continue with our business as usual claims, in order to ensure minimum disruption.
“We are aiming to keep NFU Mutual on the ground in all of the areas for the foreseeable future, so that they can see claims through to delivery.”
John Kenny concludes, “This has been a huge team effort and we have been impressed with the positive response across the whole business. Our team of Claims Inspectors, network of Local Agents and our loss adjusters have all been working tirelessly to offer help, support and personal service at these difficult times.”
