CIS sends a little Christmas cheer to worst affected flood victims

13th December 2007 Print
Over the summer Co-operative Insurance received some 4500 flood claims as a result of the adverse weather experienced across the UK.

Whilst every effort has been taken to settle as many of these claims as possible unfortunately, due to the extent of damage caused to their homes, some 500 households will still be in alternative accommodation and will not be able to move back into their homes before Christmas.

As a consequence Co-operative Insurance is looking to bring a little Christmas cheer to those worst affected and will be making a payment of £100 to each household who are still in alternative accommodation.

A letter will be sent to each household later week informing them of the payment together with a cheque or alternatively, if requested, a payment can be made electronically direct into the policyholders bank account.

Lynn Day, CIS Director of General Insurance Claims, said: “We fully understand what our policyholders must be feeling being away from their homes at such a special time of the year. Whilst the payment cannot compensate for spending the festive season away from home we hope that the money will in some way help those affected have a more enjoyable Christmas.

We would also like to stress that the payments do not form part of any claims settlement but as a responsible and caring insurer this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to many of our valued customers”.
