Engage launches over 50s Life Cover Plan with added ‘TLC'

23rd September 2008 Print
Engage Mutual has launched an enhanced Over 50s Life Cover Plan which offers policy holders and their families free advice on elderly care from care advice experts, Grace Consulting, together with help in managing a bereavement by directing them to the services of the Bereavement Advice Centre.

Engage is one of the largest providers of Over 50s Life Cover in the UK. From only £8 per month, the plan provides a guaranteed tax free amount which can be claimed on the death of the policyholder. Premiums are fixed for the life of the plan and cease at age 90, although cover continues until death.

In response to customer feedback, free elderly care advice has now been included as a benefit on all new policies. The existence of the free Bereavement Advice Centre will also be flagged to new and existing Over 50s Life Cover holders. These additional features, alongside the existing friendly society option to nominate a beneficiary on a policy to ensure a minimum of fuss on pay out on death, are designed to help customers and their families plan for and manage what can be stressful events.

Free Elderly Care Advice:

Understanding the rights of those concerned is critical when elderly care assistance is required, as is access to information on the options available. Policyholders and their families qualify for free guidance from leading independent care advice specialists, Grace Consulting.

The Grace Care Guidance service is a useful information and advice point for a range of elderly care issues. Policyholders also qualify for discounts on any additional, paid-for service levels they choose to access from Grace Consulting.

Bereavement Advice Centre

Dealing with the emotion and practicalities of a death can often feel overwhelming. In order to make assistance readily available, when a claim is made on the policy the caller will be given the option to be put through to the Bereavement Advice Centre. This not-for-profit organisation gives free, ‘first stop' advice to help deal with a range of issues, including: registering the death; finding a funeral director; tax; and probate.

Nominated Beneficiary

This option for the policyholder to nominate one or more beneficiaries of the life cover policy allows up to £5,000 of cover to be paid out on confirmation of death, without having to wait for probate. This provides funds with a minimum of fuss at the time they are most needed, and potentially saves months of delay. Probate may still be required before paying out any remaining balance of the sum payable.

Engage Marketing Director, Karl Elliott stated: "As a customer-owned mutual we aim to do more to provide support and assistance for our members and their families in planning for and managing life's events.

The Engage Over 50s Life Cover aims to ease access to information and guidance on elderly care and bereavement, and choosing a ‘nominated beneficiary' speeds up administration, securing payment with a minimum of fuss at a time when the money may be most needed."

Those interested in the Engage Over 50s Life Cover can call 0800 085 0400, or by applying online at engagemutual.com can benefit from a 5% discount. There is a choice of two plans, one which gives a choice of gift, and one which offers 3 months' premiums cash back.
