Post Office offers £30 fuel voucher with Over-50s Life Cover

8th January 2009 Print
As the arctic weather conditions continue to sweep across the nation, almost half of UK over-50s (48 per cent) are worried about paying their winter fuel bill, according to new research by Post Office Financial Services.

With temperatures averaging just 6.9 degrees and recent lows of -10, the costs of heating a home during winter can add further worry to those who are already financially strained.

To ease these concerns the Post Office is giving any customer taking out its Over-50s Life Cover insurance £30 towards gas and electricity - equivalent to 16 per cent of their winter fuel bill.

Post Office head of protection Duncan Caesar-Gordon, said: "For the over-50s winter can be a really tough time and keeping warm is hard enough without having to worry about paying for gas and electricity. Our research shows this is an additional worry for many people, so we have listened to these concerns and want to help ease their financial worries."

Post Office Over 50s Life Cover offers those concerned about money an affordable way to leave family and loved ones a lump sum in the event of the policyholder's death, to help cover funeral costs, unpaid bills or as a gift.

Cover is guaranteed for all UK residents aged between 50 and 80 with no medical questions or checks needed. Customers can choose how much cover they want with premiums starting from as little as £7 a month.
