Schroder UK Mid 250 in a league of its own

15th January 2007 Print
Schroder UK Mid 250 Fund is the only fund in the UK All Companies sector to deliver 1st quartile returns over each of the last SEVEN calendar years.

Since it was launched in November 1999, the Schroder UK Mid 250 Fund is one of the most consistent performers in the IMA UK All Companies Sector. Over the last seven calendar years it is the only Fund to have achieved top quartile returns year on year.

Over the last 5 years and since launch the fund has outperformed its sector and FTSE 250 index achieving returns of 163.37% and 204.97% as opposed to the sector average 49.93% and 32.99% and the FTSE 250 which delivered returns of 122.77% and 135.04% over the same time period.

Managed by Andy Brough, the Schroder UK Mid 250 has provided investors with consistent outperformance using a successful investment formula which plays on inflation trends at home and overseas. In 2007, Andy predicts growth opportunities in companies exposed to the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and the regeneration of UK infrastructure.

Andy Brough, Manager of the Schroder UK Mid 250, said: “The market had a very good run in 2006, with returns of more than 30% from the FTSE 250 index since the beginning of the year. By contrast it is going to be harder to make money in 2007. Inflation is still a problem and as interest rates rise, things are likely to get tougher for companies and consumers. We’re sticking to our approach: looking for competitive companies in areas where demand is growing strongly. The easiest way to increase profits is by raising prices.”

Robin Stoakley, Managing Director, Schroders’ UK Retail Business, said: “Andy is one of the most well known and highly regarded fund managers the UK. His common sense approach to investing, backed by our strong in-house research analysts means Andy and his team continue to deliver year on year.

“Schroder UK Mid 250 is a fund that stands out as a consistent, all-weather fund for clients looking to invest in UK Plc.”
