Friends Provident leads the way on ClimateWise initiative

Friends Provident, one of the 17 organisations behind the insurance industry's ClimateWise initiative, has already played a major part in tackling climate change.

Jane Stevens, managing director of operations at Friends Provident, said: “As a responsible organisation, we've been active in helping both our employees and customers to face the challenge of climate change in the future, and will continue to manage our own impacts as well as contribute to the insurance industry's collective response."

Examples of achievements include:

The launch of the first ever ethical fund for customers, called the Stewardship Fund, which allows investors to avoid companies that harm the environment, and supports companies investing in renewable energy. This year, the fund celebrates its 23rd anniversary, and reached the £3 billion mark.

A massive 65% reduction in carbon emissions within its core operations in the UK over a 5 year period
