Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust is once again sponsoring the ifs School of Finance Student Investor Challenge.

The Student Investor Challenge is an online investment competition targeted at 14-19 year olds. Teams of four students are given a virtual £100,000 to build a portfolio of UK stocks which they can then trade online for a period of fourmonths. The aim is to generate the highest return with various prizes granted at each stage in the competition with the overall winners standing to pocket £2,000 for their school and an all expenses paid trip to New York, home of the legendary Wall Street. Last year some 28,208 students from 797 schools from across the UK participated in the challenge.

"We are really delighted to once again be sponsoring the Student Investor Challenge and to support the invaluable work of ifs in improving understanding of finance and investments," said Jeremy Tigue, fund manager of the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, "this is a fun way to educate and engage students in the world of investment, an experience which will hopefully equip the participants with skills that will prove profitable in later life." "And who knows? maybe one of these students might just go on to manage the Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust one day".
