Jupiter wins top award in Alpha League table
Jupiter has been awarded top ranking in the Alpha League Table - the study created by Europerformance and EDHEC to recognise asset management houses on the ability of their managers to add value over and above returns provided by indices.Jupiter was the top performer among the 40 UK managers eligible for analysis, up from second place last year.
EDHEC's final alpha scoring system combines average outperformance with the frequency of that outperformance across a fund range. Jupiter achieved an overall alpha score of 3.10%, with an alpha frequency rating of 73% and 16 out of 21 funds generating excess returns of 4.2% on average.
According to Europerformance and EDHEC, Jupiter's management expertise stood out in international shares, where nearly 40% of the firm's alpha is produced - especially in fund of funds with significant exposure to emerging markets. UK equity funds are the source of 25% of Jupiter's overall alpha.
Edward Bonham Carter, Chief Executive of Jupiter Asset Management, said: "We are delighted to have achieved this accolade for our overall performance against our peer group. Against the most difficult market background we have witnessed for decades, it is well deserved recognition of our fund management team's skill and our ability to deliver alpha through our stockpicking approach."
